Newsies is Scott’s sixteenth production and wraps up his eighth consecutive season with this amazing theatre program. Originally from Colorado, Scott studied theatre at Regis College, the University of Northern Colorado and apprenticed with the Arvada Center for the Arts. Additionally in Colorado, Scott worked as Master Carpenter for Little Theatre of the Rockies and as the Lighting Designer for The Independence Stampede troupe. He then spent the next six years in Bryan, Texas, where he worked as Scene and Lighting Designer and Technical Director for StageCenter, the Navasota Theatre Alliance, and Bryan High School. In 1994, after completing his Ph.D. in mathematics, Scott and his wife moved to Louisville. Over the next seven years, he designed for numerous organizations including Kentucky Contemporary Theatre (KCT), Spalding University, Presentation Academy, Shelbyville Community Theatre and Louisville Repertory Theatre. Scott was the Lighting Designer for the University of Louisville Dance Academy for 20 years including their 2019 farewell performance. In recent years, Scott has worked as the Lighting Designer for the Hill House on Devil’s Backbone, a premier private concert venue. Scott found this wonderful Trinity opportunity when JC. Reedy, his friend and collaborator (of over 20 years – beginning with KCT), mentioned in passing (there may have been a party event going on…) that he was designing a show for Trinity and was in need of a lighting designer for a little show called The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged. Over eight years ago!
